RATT !
Ratt guitarist Warren DeMartini has officially joined Dio as the band's new touring guitarist. Warren replaces Doug Aldrich, who has spent the past few months touring with the reunited Whitesnake.
DeMartini's first appearance with Dio will take place as part of the group's upcoming North American tour with Iron Maiden and Motorhead, which is set to kick off in late July.
During an online chat conducted in February, Aldrich alluded to a possible scheduling conflict between his upcoming Whitesnake touring activities and the touring/songwriting sessions with Dio, potentially jeopardizing his status in the latter band.
"Ronnie [James Dio] is at the moment working on the story for the next record and I was hoping to write with him for that record at some point, but these [Whitesnake European] dates just came up and I don't know what is going to happen with that [right now]," Aldrich said.
"I am not sure exactly what the future holds with Dio at the moment, but I love working with Ronnie and the band, and I hope to work with him again when schedule permits," he added

Darkadia !
@Sunday, March 9, 2003 - 11:45:34

Darkadia are no more, as one of Sheffield’s hardest working frontmen D’Lear instigates a new era for his band KIK.
Things are looking up for D’Lear after many years tweaking his bands direction and image to what many believe to be just what the market is looking for right now. It’s pointless trying to pigeon hole KIK so check them out at www.officialkik.com.The new look is backed by an albums worth of quality mastered recordings. Recently signing to the ISLA management stable has already been a positive move as the managers immediately flew out to Midem to see the labels and KIK some The up shot is that the labels are now requesting more songs and this could be the break the band has been waiting for. They have added a new member to the line up in j-Hi and are playing live in Sheffield at the Boardwalk on Sunday March 16th. Doors open 8PM.
The band are also set to show case new material in London around April/May so make sure you get down there and support the guys. A long time admirer of D’Lear as a producer/Songwriter and dedicated musician we wish the band every success in their quest for breast! (Sorry meant quest to be best).

AXEL GOES AWOL:
@Wednesday, November 13, 2002 - 16:27:59

Just in case you have been living under a rock - here's today's biggest rock scandal headline.
Good to see the only original member of Gun N Rose blowing off his own gig - the first of the North American dates no less!
Vancouver police break up riot after Guns N' Roses concert cancelled / Canadian Press
Friday, November 08, 2002 VANCOUVER (CP) - Thousands of fans rioted for about an hour outside GM Place in downtown Vancouver on Thursday night after Axl Rose, the lead singer of Guns N' Roses, failed to appear for a concert.
It was to have been the first show of the rock band's North American leg of its Chinese Democracy World Tour. Police used pepper spray to disperse the rioters. There were no reports of injuries.
In 1991, Rose precipitated a riot in a St. Louis suburb by jumping off the stage and attacking a fan videotaping the heavy metal band's concert. Sixty people were hurt and the Riverport Amphitheatre in Maryland Heights, Mo., was wrecked. Several subsequent concerts on the band's tour were cancelled.
Several lawsuits were filed and Rose was charged with assault and property damage.
Rose never surrendered to face the charges and was arrested a year later by federal agents at Kennedy International Airport in New York as he returned from a European tour.
He was eventually put on probation for two years and ordered to donate $50,000 to five social service organizations.

Z RECORDS ANNOUNCE FUTURE OF Z ROCK SHOWS:
@Saturday, October 12, 2002 - 09:46:05

After what can only be described as a pitiful turn out for Z Rock Germany, the decision has been made to cancel all plans for Z Rock Germany 2003 and any further Z shows within the country for the foreseeable future.
At the same time tickets sales for Z Rock 2003 UK have been suspended as of today October 9th.
Z Records have decided to make a decision regarding the English show after ZRocktober which will be staged October 27th, if the show fails to break even Z Rock 2003 UK will be cancelled.
Over the past 18 months Z has lost £20,000 whilst staging 5 Z shows and the poor turn out for Z Rock Germany made the label finally decide to say enough is enough.
Z Rock Canada is still scheduled to go ahead, a press release concerning the show will be made shortly.

All I can add to that is please support these shows! No matter if it is Z Records, Now & Then/Frontiers or another label...if you are in the vicinity of any of these shows, or any rock show in Europe or the USA - go, support the bands, the labels and the people trying to put these gigs on.
Your support is vital to the future of this music. If it's to be taken seriously, we have to vote with our feet

Unofficial reports suggested that Staley died of a drug overdose.
Alice in Chains was one of a handful of grunge rock bands that became a national sensation by bridging the gap between hard rock and alternative music.
In addition to its minimalist, hard-driving music, heroin was also part of the grunge scene.
Alice in Chains was forced to cancel a 1994 tour after Staley admitted his battle with heroin addiction, a drug that had taken a toll on other Seattle musicians, including Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain.
Cobain's own struggle with heroin was well known long before he committed suicide in 1994.
Just three months later, Hole bassist Kristen Pfafff's body was found in the bathtub of her Seattle apartment. She too had died of an overdose.
Staley was born Aug. 2, 1967 in Kirkland, Wash.

COVERDALE HALTS WORK ON NEW STUDIO ALBUM:
@Saturday, April 13, 2002 - 20:22:37

David Coverdale has posted a statement on the Message Board section of his website: davidcoverdale.com
It reads: "I am putting my album on hold, at this time...Sorry, and all...but, I am very uncomfortable about the state of the music business right now...and I am currently looking into the possibility of touring as soon as I can...I have every confidence in myself...and absolutely none with the current mentality of the recording industry...So...it is more likely you will see me performing BEFORE you hear any new recordings...As always...and one of the reasons I am sometimes reluctant to post on here any 'plans'...circumstances can change rather quickly in my life...and I must always be prepared to 'roll with the punches"
That's some disappointing news. I hope David will reconsider this move and re-start work soon. He was most recently working with bass player/ songwriter Tony Franklin on the new material.

NEAL SCHON UPDATES JOURNEY FANS AND MORE!:
@Friday, March 29, 2002 - 23:45:39

As fans may be aware, Journey have been writing new tunes to debut live this upcoming tour.
Guitarist Neal Schon posted news to the band's website:
"Just thought I would let you know that all the boys are in town, and we got of to a great start with a new song in the can already. It's definitely an epic. We plan on using this song to open our shows this summer. The title is State of Grace.
This is one of three or four songs we are going to put on an E.P. that we will be selling at the shows this summer, and we will be performing these songs this summer as well. It seems we are getting very creative.....nothing "poppy" about this stuff. Definitely on the heavier side.
That's all for now, I will keep you posted on how it's going.....
Neal"

A DOKKEN UPDATE:
@Tuesday, March 26, 2002 - 07:43:42

News direct from Don Dokken via site bud Mitch Lafon:
"Hi Mitch, just finished the LP. I'm still in Nashville mastering. Six months was a long time. I hope the fans like it. We leave for Europe in may for a month then the summer tour starts in June. The line up is LA Guns, Firehouse, Warrant, Ratt and us [Dokken] headlining. I hope it goes better than the Poison tour last year. It will be nice to be headlining large places again. We'll be going to Japan in Sept. that's all I know for now. There seems to be a big buzz for the U.S tour, hope it does well every show, that would be nice. DD"
.
Don said the release date is April 9th and also mentioned an interesting piece of info; when they go out on tour, they will be selling a CD of the last live concert they did with George Lynch in Japan '95 and also he mentioned that there is a new format for CD's that is being used in Germany which allows a CD to be on one side and a DVD on the other side, which the band might utilise.

DON AIREY NEW KEYBOARDIST FOR DEEP PURPLE

The circle of Sabbath / Purple / Rainbow / Ozzy / etc band members grows closer yet again with the announcement that former Sabbath & Ozzy band member Don Airey has been named the new keyboardist for Deep Purple. He replaces Jon Lord, who has retired, presumably due to the fact that he's getting on, and doesn't want to go out on tour all the time anymore. :)

Don Airey as you know was the keyboardist for Ozzy's first couple of albums, as well as being keyboardist for Sabbath's 1978 album, Never Say Die

TONY MARTIN (EX BLACK SABBATH) UPDATE
@Saturday, March 2, 2002 - 10:48:31 - THE BAILEY BROTHERS

thanks for keeping in touch. I am flying to Italy tomorrow to finish the new cage album, which I'm pretty sure we're going to call "Poison Roses"

From there I fly to New York to sing on the new Rondinelli album.

From there, all being well, I fly back to the UK to start rehearsals for a small tour with the Bailey Brothers. They have released their first album but have been let down by their singer so we've agreed to put a show on the road featuring Tony Martin, including their material off their new album which is kinda Celtic rock/ Thin Lizzy type stuff, and material covering my past including Sabbath, Solo stuff, and the Blue Murder album that I wrote with John Sykes.

If it comes off, it's going to be quite a show. Appearing with me and the Brothers are a couple of guys from Saxon on bass and drums.

When the dates are arranged I'll let you know. So, It's time that I was hitting the road again, and this is the beginning. I'm looking forward to it.

Hope to see you guys out there - Thanks again for keeping in touch.

HAGAR AND SCHON JAM IN CALIFORNIA
@Friday, February 8, 2002 - 07:56:34

Last weekend saw Sammy Hagar and Neal Schon on stage together, with Schon guesting at a Waborita's gig.
Neal joined Sammy for the same four songs on both nights of the two gig stand at Konocti Harbor.
I am told the songs featured were: Rock Candy, Heavy Metal, Crossroads (same track Neal and Slash jammed on with Bad Company, last week in San Diego), Whiter Shade Of Pale (also featured on the HSAS album).
Sammy Hagar wins quote of the week for his statement from the stage during the encore. Using some colourful language, Sammy mentioned how his last three CDs have not sold well, but his tequila sold over a million bottles in the last year.
Apparently he's not worried about the records, because his bottles went platinum. Nice One!

VAN HALEN AND JOURNEY WORK TOWARDS FUTURE PLANS:
@Saturday, January 26, 2002 - 19:13:06

VAN HALEN AND JOURNEY WORK TOWARDS FUTURE PLANS:
Two of the biggest stories in recent times and I am afraid to say that no one's talking. Not yet at least!
At this stage it seems both Van Halen and Journey are working towards securing their future, albeit it in a different direction - professionally speaking - than we have been used to, up until this point.
Not even Warner Bros. own head of Press was able to keep her promise to get back to me today. Yesterday, when asked of the split between the label and Van Halen, she claimed to know nothing about it and would look into it. However, a statement is soon to be released by the label.
Van Halen's own webmaster claimed the split came a month ago, but the band failed to report the news at they did not deem it 'newsworthy'. If that is so, then there isn't going to be much in the world that will be newsworthy!
As for Journey's departure from Columbia / Sony - that too happened some days/weeks ago. Apparently there is nothing earth shattering in the decision – It is said that it was just time for a change and the partnership between the band and Sony had just run it's course.

Linkin Park Guitarist Breaks Foot
@Wednesday, November 7, 2001 - 08:36:31

Linkin Park guitarist Brad Delson broke his foot following a gig in San Diego last week and will be in plaster for five weeks.

Seems Brad got a little peeved at technical problems during the band's set, so when it finished he stormed off stage, kicked a door and broke his foot.

But the show must go on, and the band will continue with the famed Family Values Tour of the US, with Staind and the Stone Temple Pilots.

Robbie: 'I'm Bored'
@Monday, November 5, 2001 - 08:06:36

Robbie Williams is currently on tour in Australia but fans who've bought tickets to his shows may not like to hear his admission that he's bored and prays before he goes on stage each night that he makes it through the show.

"The most important thing - and I pray for it before I go on stage - is that people go home happy. That's what worries me the most: that there'll be a night when I go on stage and it won't kick in and it will show," he told Aussie newspaper Herald Sun. "Luckily it's never happened."

Robbie also admitted he often doubts his abilities as a pop star and his top priority right now is to take a year off. "I don't know what it is I have. I don't know what it is that's going to fill a stage. What am I doing that's any good? I don't get it."
