A thirty-six-year-old Healdsburg, California man fell to his death Thursday night while attending Kiss's Farewell show at the Oakland Arena in Oakland, California. At 10:45 p.m., while Kiss performed "God of Thunder," Stubblefield apparently lost his balance and fell backwards. He hit his head on a cement structure next to the facility's escalator three floors below.
"His friends weren't even aware that he was gone when he fell," said Oakland police officer George Phillips. "We can't say that alcohol and drugs were the cause, but we can say he and his friends were drinking prior to the fall." Phillips explained that paramedics were on the scene and that they tried to revive Stubblefied. An ambulance was summoned, and Stubblefield was transported to Oakland's Highland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Tommy Shaw had made himself unavailable for the band after taking the dominating role in Styx last year. Tommy remains on great terms with the band and three of the songs written with Jack Blades for the album should still make the final cut. He said he will make time to appear on the record.
Damon is said to be a killer replacement for Shaw and will sing and play guitar in his place, both on the record and on tour. He has already written two tracks with Jack Blades for the album - We Are The Ones and Even Though.
In adding Kelly Keagy the band will have four lead singers and four songwriters, a combination that should produce one classic record.
Recording of the album should commence soon, with a release planned for later this year.

During last week's Brit Awards in London, Williams openly challenged Liam to a televised fight for £100,000, equal to $158,000 here in the states. Reports that former welterweight champion Lloyd Honeyghan and Panos Eliades, Lennox Lewis' promoter, have both said that they would agree to line up contracts to make the match happen, as long as both fighters are fit enough and agree to donate all the moneys to charity.
British oddsmakers have already made Williams a 2:1 favorite in the hypothetical match because of his weight advantage.

Ozzy, Sharon Face Another Lawsuit
@Saturday, March 4, 2000 - 16:32:18

One week after word surfaced that the Smashing Pumpkins were suing Sharon Osbourne, the manager and her husband Ozzy now find themselves facing another legal volley.
The Osbournes are being sued by two of Ozzy's former bandmembers for $20 million. Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake claim that they haven't been properly credited as songwriters, nor have they been paid for the use of their songs.
Both Daisley and Kerslake played on Ozzy's 1981 album "Blizzard Of Ozz," and Daisley went on to work with Ozzy on "Bark At The Moon," "No Rest For The Wicked," and "No More Tears." During his time with Ozzy, Daisley also scored co-songwriting credit on tracks like "Crazy Train," "Mr. Crowley," "I Don't Know," "Crazy Babies," and others.
The Osbournes are letting their attorneys do the talking with regard to the case, and Orin Snyder (of Parcher, Hayes & Snyder) said, "For nearly 20 years, these two plaintiffs never said a word. Now, after so many years and millions of records sold, they have come out of the woodwork with these preposterous claims. We are confident that this lawsuit will be dismissed."
The news comes just eight days after the Smashing Pumpkins filed a suit against Sharon Osbourne, who managed the band for a mere four months recently, seeking the return of a $150,000 advance the band claims

Bryan Adams Books U.S. Mini-Tour
@Saturday, February 26, 2000 - 16:52:48

Canadian-born rocker Bryan Adams has lined up a mini-tour of eastern U.S. theaters that gets going on March 31 in Minneapolis.
Seven shows have been confirmed and more dates may be added in May.
While Adams tours extensively, he rarely plays the U.S. these days, preferring instead to enjoy his popularity in other parts of the world. His twelfth album, "The Best of Me", a greatest hits collection with two new songs, has been met with strong sales outside the U.S. since its release last fall, though it remains unreleased Stateside. Adams completed over 120 concerts in Europe, Africa and the Middle East in 1999 and played less than a dozen shows in the U.S.
He toured his Canadian homeland in January and is currently en route to Australia for another two-week jaunt. He's traveling with what he refers to as his stripped-down power trio, which consists of Adams, longtime guitarist Keith Scott, and drummer Mickey Curry.
Meanwhile Adams, who now makes his home in London, England, gave a surprise London performance joining Nick Bracegirdle (a.k.a. Chicane) on stage Tuesday night in front of an invite-only audience. The duo performed the newly released Chicane song "Don't Give Up," which also features Adams. The song was also included as a hidden track on "The Best Of Me."
Adams' U.S. shows are as follows:
 3/31 - Minneapolis, MN @ State Theatre
 4/1 - Milwaukee, WI @ Riverside Theatre
 4/3 - Detroit, MI @ State Theatre
 4/4 - Buffalo, NY @ Shea's Performing Arts Center
 4/5 - Cleveland, OH @ Palace Theatre
 4/7 - Boston, MA @ Orpheum Theatre
 4/8 - Philadelphia, PA @ Tower Theatre

The band will also headline a new two-day event on Glasgow Green this August Bank Holiday weekend. The event's being organised by the same people putting the band on at Reading/Leeds. There’s speculation too that some of the bill for Reading/Leeds will also play in Glasgow.

It looks like we finally have a firm date for the long delayed, long overdue 'lost' Poison album Crack A Smile & More. It should be in the stores March 10. The cover has been changed from the original promo release from 1996. (Has it been THAT long?!).

Kiss to Ignite Farewell Tour in March
@Wednesday, February 16, 2000 - 23:59:41 - The Bailey Brothers

Kiss Kiss goodbye.
After twenty-seven years in the saddle, Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley are ready to dismount and call it a day. This July, they'll each apply their white clown makeup one last time when the Kiss Farewell Tour comes to an end. When someone at the press conference asked what they were going to do next, Simmons looked imperious and said, "It doesn't matter what were going to do next. What matters is this is our farwell tour,." Stopping to take a gulp of air, the fabeled Bat King continued. "A lot of bands say it's their farwell tour, but we mean it. This is our way of saying thank you to all our fans."
Supporting Kiss for this final go-round will be fellow Seventies veteran Ted Nugent and later-day old-school rockers Skid Row. And just so we have something to remember them by, the four original members will unleash Alive IV on March 28.

EXCLUSLVE VAN HALEN REPORT
@Monday, February 14, 2000 - 19:29:22 - THE BAILEY BROTHERS

VAN HALEN WITH DAVID LEE ROTH:
David Lee Roth is to reunite with Van Halen under the moniker Van Halen with David Lee Roth but don't expect this to be permanent, this will be very much on a trial basis. The band is still looking for a permanent singer but has finally given in to label and fan pressure to reunite with their original lead singer.
No contracts have been signed and no agreements reached but the following has happened. The band has been meeting with Roth and they have jammed together. They have also been working on song ideas. However, contrary to other reports nothing has been recorded yet. The title Van Halen with David Lee Roth is one the band is reluctant to adopt but feel it best fits the situation. They are not welcoming David back permanently but as a transitory member only.

GREATEST HITS VOLUME 2:
Current plans for Van Halen with David Lee Roth do not include a full new studio album. Instead what is being prepared for release is Greatest Hits Volume 2, which will once again include 2 newly recorded tracks with Roth.

These 2 new songs will come from work the band had already started with Gary Cherone before his departure. Roth is contributing song ideas.
No recordings have taken place and a producer has not even been selected.
Danny Korchmar who was working with the band most recently and prior to Gary's departure will not be involved. A possible producer is Glenn Ballard who last worked with the band on the 2 new tracks that were added to Greatest Hits Volume 1.

THE SUMMER TOUR:
The planned tour will be to support Greatest Hits Volume 2. The tour will go under the before mentioned name Van Halen with David Lee Roth. I have been informed it is at this point the band intends to let David Lee Roth go.
There are also contingency plans in place should the relationship with Roth deteriorate mid tour.
Van Halen's future from this point is so far undecided but several ideas are being discussed. In order to explain the options we need to take a step back to Gary Cherone's departure

WHY SAMMY SAID NO
After Cherone left the band, Sammy Hagar was approached but due to label pressure and their dual tour idea, Sammy declined. The band then began their search for a new vocalist. The band talked with several singers before giving into label pressure for the current David Lee Roth reunion. Talks took place between the band and Billy Squier, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and even Sass Jordan. The band was looking for a vocalist with a solid reputation and past history yet who were not involved in anything at present.
Other singers talked about but never contacted include Eric Martin (Mr. Big), Patty Smyth, Mitch Malloy, Johnny Gioeli (Hardline), Louie Merlino (Beggars & Thieves) and Danny Boals of Thunder. The rumored Sebastian Bach link was false.
There is only one singer the band have met with and written and recorded any songs. That is David Coverdale.

THE COVERDALE TAPES
Coverdale's involvement with the band is all true. Everything rumored several months ago actually happened.
The news was initially linked to the press to gauge fan reaction. After initial reaction wasn't entirely favorable stories were run to cover up the project.
An interview with David Coverdale rumored to be false and attacked was in fact true. Sessions took place and a demo tape was recorded.
The sessions with Coverdale went extremely well to the point where Eddie Van Halen wants Coverdale as the next lead singer. Contact continues with Coverdale and an arrangement exists if David Lee Roth leaves the band mid tour Coverdale will step in.

THE NEXT VOCALIST:
That brings us now to the bands current options. With the tour to support Greatest Hits 2 over there are two thoughts.
One is to record an all new studio album with a new lead singer, preferably Coverdale, or the return of Sammy Hagar.
The second option is to record an album with multiple vocalists.

YOURS IN MUSIC THE BAILEY BROTHERS..

Dokken, Slaughter Members To Appear In "Metal God"
@Sunday, February 13, 2000 - 01:43:55 - The Bailey Brothers

As Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Anniston prepare to start work on "Metal God," the film project loosely based on the true story of Tim "Ripper" Owens and Judas Priest, the movie's producers have tapped several real-life musicians to round out the cast.

Drummer Jason Bonham, Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde, Dokken bassist Jeff Pilson, and actors Dominic West ("A Midsummer Night's Dream") and Jason Flemyng ("Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels") will rock out on celluloid as Steel Dragon.
Because the "Metal God" bands are staffed with real musicians, look for the movie's soundtrack to include several songs from each group, although the specifics for such recordings have yet to be determined.
"Metal God" is expected to begin filming on location in Los Angeles in March, and is tentatively set for release by the end of the year

Money Talks
@Sunday, February 13, 2000 - 01:32:05
